My Infographic CV [UPDATE]

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has taken the time to comment and e-mail me on my Infographic CV. Special thanks to http://jonspruce.com who took an awful lot of time writing to me with some great suggestions.

So, 8 days on and after more than 330 downloads and 480 page views, here is my updated version.

Comments and constructive criticism welcome as always.

I mentioned in my first post on this topic that it has got me thinking about how we can use infographics in our business collateral. Due to the tremendous response from my CV post I have already started redesigning our corporate collateral using a blend of Infographics (designed in InDesign) and Video (Produced and then combined using Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite). I will share the results with you all when finished but I am already excited about the possibilities.

I hope some of this inspires you to get creative with your marketing.

  1. Hi Gareth
I very much like your CV and it goes to show how much more interesting documents can (and should be)

  2. Hi Gareth, the CV looks fantastic – a very innovative way of presenting what can be quite dry information! As a recruiting manager myself, I also know the pain (and occasional pleasure) of sifting through a mountain of CV’s to pick out the candidates worth seeing. Definite food for thought…thanks.

  3. Making an infographic CV is not new but yours is neat and presented in a way that’s easy to the eyes, others are just bunch of boxes, circles and too small font – defeating the purpose of informative graphic. Well done!

  4. Cool Gareth. You might be interested in the site http://vizualize.me/ – they generate infographics from your linkedIn profile. Can never be as cool as a custom infographic, but interesting nonetheless.

  5. This is fantastic Gareth – a really nice way of presenting your employment/achievement history. I’ve seen examples of this before, but never so well done. Out of interest, what software package(s) did you have to use to create this?

  6. Hi Gareth, I have been a fan of infographics for a while now and your CV is a really good example. Too many people tend to go a bit over the top with them but yours does a great job of capturing all the pertinent information in a very succinct manner. Interestingly, and I hope you dont mind, I work for a recruitment software company and wondered whether your new style CV would go through ‘parsing’ and the technology still be able to extract all of the information contained in it and am delighted to advise that it does it beautifully. So even for recruitment companies using the very latest in technology to help them identify candidates your infographic cv would still represent you in the best possible light. The only exception to the rule seems to be if it has been saved as an image file rather than a .pdf so if anyone else is considering doing one, make sure you dont have it as a .gif or similar. Thank you for sharing! Great stuff!

  9. Gareth, I have seen some of your work on LI before, you are exceptionally talented, and this is the greatest marketing consultant layout I’ve ever seen. You got a new fan today sir, thanks for sharing this as well as the feedback you’ve gotten and testing you’ve done. Beautiful design, credibility indicators and powerful branding, a truely vivid picture of your experiences and skills, I can’t imagine a hiring authority wouldn’t be wow’d.
